“I started my eating disorder my sophomore year of high school and it quickly took over my life. My body took quite a beating. By senior year, I had attempted suicide twice. When I graduated, I discovered my addiction to cocaine. This quickly consumed my life as well.

I lost many of my friends, my parents and I rarely talked, and my brother kicked me out of his house. I was homeless for periods of time. Everyone I knew lost trust and respect for me. Nearly no one from high school even knew I was still alive. I lost my scholarship to college. I totaled my car and nearly died 5 other times. I was violated and taken advantage of. I had many close calls and, after 5 years of downfall, I found myself alone and completely broken down.

Eventually, I went to both Remuda Ranch and Valley Hope. Finding the correct support group and people to trust is absolutely important. I decided to take myself away from the crowd I was hanging out with. I deleted nearly all the numbers in my phone and I got a new job. I stuck close to my family and friends for support. I also found that prayer is the best answer for any anxiety and uncertainty.

Today, my family and close friends support me fully. Seeing my future coming back into focus makes me proud and gives me hope in my dreams and passions. I am a much more confident and wiser person now. I appreciate every little moment and cherish the things that I am passionate about. Life is precious, so we have to live it to the fullest!”
