Family and friends of at risk teens

Do you have a loved one that may be at risk for one of our ClearChoices topics and want to find out what you can do?  We can help!  It can be scary to see someone you care about engage in destructive behaviors, and helping them to make positive changes in their life takes courage.  Take steps to get educated about the area your teen is struggling with.  It’s also important to let them know that they matter to you and that you are concerned!  Be sure to listen without judgment, and try to see things from their point of view.  Try to remain objective, stating your concerns and observations and how you see the person’s health and relationships being affected.  If they are not ready to hear your concerns, remain persistent and available for when they are ready for your help.   It’s also important to recognize your limits.  You are not a substitute for professional care.

Our ClearChoices website has information specific to the topics we speak on throughout the community, including education around warning signs and symptoms, how to take preventative action within your family around our ClearChoices topics, and how to find resources your family may need for treatment or support.
